Horvath scores 4 TDs, Lions beat winless Redblacks

Zander Horvath scored four touchdowns and rushed for 164 yards as the B.C. Lions defeated the Ottawa Redblacks 45-24 on Sunday night in Ottawa.

The Redblacks tied the game 24-24 when Jake Maier found Ayden Eberhardt for a 49-yard touchdown run after Ottawa converted on third-and-one. B.C. responded immediately, with Nathan Rourke leading a drive that ended with Horvath’s third touchdown and a 31-24 Lions lead.

B.C. pulled away late. Rourke connected with Jevon Cottoy for a 14-yard touchdown, and Horvath scored again from the one-yard line with less than three minutes remaining.

Ottawa, now 0-11, has lost 17 straight games and will go more than a calendar year without a victory. The Redblacks last won on Sept. 5, 2025, and will not play again until Sept. 12 after next week’s bye. Maier finished with 291 passing yards and two touchdowns, becoming the first quarterback to lose 11 consecutive starts. Rourke passed for 355 yards and two touchdowns, but threw two interceptions.
