Hospital Condemns Patient Attack on Nurse, Vows Zero Tolerance for Medical Violence

A nurse at Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital was physically assaulted by a patient while attending to other individuals in the emergency room on July 15th. The incident occurred as the medical team was providing care for the patient, who had been admitted due to a seizure.

According to the hospital, the patient became verbally abusive and physically aggressive towards the nursing staff as they prepared to assist with discharge. The assault resulted in injuries to the nurse. The hospital immediately activated its medical violence response mechanism to support the injured staff member.

The patient became emotionally out of control, not only verbally abusing medical staff but also physically attacking and kicking the nurse, causing injury to colleagues.

Fu Jen Catholic University Hospital has strongly condemned the attack and has fully cooperated with the police. The Lin Kou Precinct of the Mingzhi Police Station responded promptly, arresting the suspect. The individual has been transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office and has been ordered into detention.

The hospital expressed gratitude for the police's swift action in upholding the safety of medical personnel and maintaining order within the healthcare facility.
