Hospital Organizes Heavy Metal Concert to Fulfill Patient's Last Wish

In a heartwarming gesture, a Canadian hospital transformed one of its units into a heavy metal concert venue to fulfill the dying wish of a patient. The unique event occurred at the Saint-Vincent Hospital, part of Bruyère Health, in Ottawa.

The young patient, whose identity is being withheld due to their condition, expressed a desire to attend a live heavy metal concert. Unable to leave the hospital, the medical team decided to bring the concert to them. Clinical chaplain Roshene Lawson and Scott McClinton, owner of Ottawa's Dominion Tavern, collaborated to make this happen.

They successfully arranged for the local heavy metal band, The Scepter, to perform an exclusive concert within the hospital premises. Lawson explained the profound significance of the initiative, stating, "Sometimes a patient's wish is to see a heavy metal concert. Ours couldn't go to one, so we brought the concert to him." This sentiment highlights the team's dedication to providing comfort and fulfilling patient desires.

The concert took place on July 21, with The Scepter performing their music for the patient, surrounded by family and hospital staff. The event held extra significance as it occurred just hours before the band was scheduled to open for the legendary band Metal Church in Ottawa. Despite their prior commitment, the musicians prioritized the hospital's request, demonstrating their commitment to the cause.

Following the performance, the band expressed their joy in participating, stating, "It was a pleasure for us to play for the patients of Bruyère Health." Bruyère Health also extended its gratitude to the organizers and artists for creating a meaningful memory for the patient and those present, underscoring the power of music and compassion in challenging times.
