Host ejects coach from live show for sexist joke

Uruguayan football coach Juan Ramón Carrasco was ejected from a live broadcast by host Alejandro Fantino after making a sexist remark about journalist Sofía Romano. The incident occurred on the streaming program "Llenos de Mística" on El Observador in Uruguay.

Carrasco veered off from analyzing Argentina's loss to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final to tell a crude joke involving three women at the beach. Romano attempted to steer the discussion back to football, but Carrasco persisted, making a derogatory comment about her.

You are vulgar. You said you were a respectful man and you did not keep your word.

"It seems she is not well attended to," Carrasco said, escalating the situation. Romano, indignant, called him "vulgar" and accused him of not keeping his word about being respectful. Fantino then intervened, stating he no longer wished to share airtime with Carrasco, calling him "out of line" and "very uncomfortable."

Look Juan, I've been thinking about it and I don't feel like sharing another minute of airtime with you. You said something stupid, you are out of line and I am very uncomfortable. If I had been there (in the studio), things would have ended badly. Get up and leave.

Carrasco attempted to justify his remarks, apologizing and claiming Romano had misinterpreted him. However, Romano insisted he re-listen to the broadcast, stating there was no room for misinterpretation. Fantino then ordered Carrasco to leave the studio.
