Hosting Major Superstars, Afro Nation Festival Wrapped with Spectacular Performances from Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy

The world's largest Afrobeats festival, Afro Nation, wrapped up its sixth edition in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal, from July 3–5, 2026, with spectacular performances from Nigerian superstars Burna Boy, Asake, and Wizkid.

The moment added a personal touch to an already lively performance, with the crowd interaction becoming one of the highlights of the night.

The three-day festival celebrated a diverse range of genres, including Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, and R&B, across its main stage and the popular Piano People stage. This year also introduced the Afrotronic Stage, dedicated to Afro House and electronic sounds. The event drew thousands of fans eager to experience a lineup featuring major global artists, including special guests Gunna and Kehlani.

Headliners Burna Boy, Asake, and Wizkid each delivered high-energy sets, captivating the audience with their hit-filled performances. Burna Boy's set coincided with his birthday, adding a personal touch to the electrifying atmosphere. Asake showcased songs from his latest album, further solidifying his status as a global Afrobeats star, while Wizkid closed the festival with an electrifying performance of his most popular tracks, including the global hit "Essence."

He also showcased songs from his recently released album, performing tracks such as “MCBH,” “Gratitude,” and “Forgiveness,” further cementing his status as one of Afrobeats’ biggest global stars.

Beyond the headliners, the festival featured a vibrant array of Nigerian talent, including Olamide, Wande Coal, Blaqbonez, and Young Jonn, underscoring the country's dynamic music scene since Afro Nation's 2019 launch in Portugal. The 2026 edition expanded its scope, celebrating African music and diaspora culture across multiple stages. Artists from across the continent, such as South Africa's Tyla, Congo's Awilo Longomba, Uganda's Joshua Baraka, and Ghana's R2Bees, also delivered memorable performances, highlighting the festival's commitment to showcasing the breadth of African music.

Wizkid commanded the stage with an electrifying set packed with fan favourites from across his celebrated catalogue, including chart-topping anthems such as “Kese“ and the global smash hit “Essence.”
