Hotman Paris Appointed Lawyer for Former Deputy Attorney General Amid Corruption Probe

Senior lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea announced Friday that he has been officially appointed as the legal representative for Febrie Adriansyah, the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes. Hutapea made the declaration after visiting the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) in Jakarta.

"The power of attorney was officially handed over this morning," Hutapea told reporters. His visit to the Kejagung was primarily to ascertain whether Adriansyah had received any official summons for questioning from investigators. "I'm just going to ask if there's a summons," he explained.

This development follows the Attorney General's Office's issuance of three new investigation orders. These orders pertain to alleged corruption and money laundering charges that have ensnared Adriansyah. The cases involve PT Krakatau Steel, coal procurement for PLN that led to a blackout, and the ASABRI case.

The Kejagung has formed a special team of nine senior prosecutors, many with prior experience at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), to handle these matters. The office assured that the team is highly competent and committed to addressing the corruption cases involving Febrie Adriansyah.
