Hou You-yi stops short of confirming campaign chair role, vows to fight alongside Lee Sichuan

New Taipei Mayor Hou You-yi has not said whether he will become Lee Sichuan’s campaign headquarters chair, but he made clear that he intends to stand with the Kuomintang candidate until the end of the race.

Asked about the position, Hou said it was not a question of titles. He would accompany Lee and fight alongside him. Lee welcomed Hou at the New Taipei Election Commission after registering his candidacy, and the two displayed their close political alliance.

Lee also addressed his opponent Su Chiao-hui’s campaign resources and planned event, which will be attended by former President Tsai Ing-wen and President Lai Ching-te. He said he would visit all 29 districts, present what he called the best policy platform, continue Hou’s achievements and win the election.
