'House of the Dragon' Season 3: Premiere date and episode schedule revealed

The highly anticipated third season of 'House of the Dragon' premieres on June 21, bringing the 'Game of Thrones' universe back to HBO Max. Set two centuries before the events of the original series, this prequel delves into the Targaryen dynasty's rise and fall.

The season will consist of eight episodes, with new installments released weekly, concluding on August 9. The premiere episode boasts a special extended runtime of 72 minutes. This release follows a two-year gap since the previous season, building anticipation for the unfolding Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons.

Based on George R.R. Martin's 2018 book 'Fire & Blood,' the series explores the brutal conflict that erupted from a succession dispute within the royal family. The narrative centers on the division between two factions: the Green Council and the Black Council, vying for control of the Iron Throne.

Showrunner Ryan Condal has indicated that after two seasons focused on political intrigue and family strife, the upcoming season will showcase characters driven by pride, power, ego, and self-interest, revealing a more violent and bloody side. The series is expected to conclude with its fourth season, potentially premiering in 2028.
