Hsinchu County Candidate Proposes Tourism Blueprint, Aims to Make Kuan-hsi 'The Kyoto of Hsinchu County'

Hsinchu County mayoral candidate Cheng Chao-fang is proposing a comprehensive tourism blueprint for the region, with a particular focus on transforming Kuan-hsi township into a cultural hub akin to 'The Kyoto of Hsinchu County.' Cheng, who recently shared his governance successes in Zhubei during an interview with Sanli's 'Precious Truth,' aims to extend the successful 'model of urban governance' implemented in Zhubei to all 12 other townships and cities within Hsinchu County.

Cheng emphasized that governance requires diverse solutions, tailoring approaches to different areas. He pointed to the successful renovation of the 'Renyi Market' as an example. His team managed everything from utility line consolidation to structural reinforcement, transforming a neglected space into a vibrant 'market living room.' This project reportedly increased sales for vendors by an average of 10 to 30 percent, even moving initially resistant stall owners to express their gratitude.

Beyond market revitalization, Cheng's administration has focused on integrating aesthetic design into public spaces. Projects like the 'Interstellar Stadium' and 'Zhubei Light' have infused artistic elements into sidewalks and green belts, creating a distinct urban character for Zhubei. In terms of administrative efficiency, Cheng highlighted the streamlined process for distributing a 6,000 NTD relief fund, where nearly 90 percent of citizens applied online, significantly simplifying procedures through smart technology.

Addressing county-level responsibilities like education and transportation, Cheng has proactively sought solutions within his mayoral authority. He has engaged with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Transportation to discuss high school capacity and external transportation links. Furthermore, his initiative to provide free 'Golden Commute Line' shuttle buses aims to resolve transportation pain points for students.

Cheng also expressed enthusiasm for Hsinchu County's rich agricultural products, specifically mentioning Kuan-hsi's savory herb chicken, Hsinpu's persimmons, and Beipu's Hakka stuffed buns. His vision for Kuan-hsi involves integrating its historic streets, ancient sites, and agricultural landscapes to create a destination that immerses visitors in Hakka culture and lifestyle. Cheng pledged to lead the county's 13 townships and cities toward common progress under the principle of 'seeing problems and solving them,' fulfilling his promise of 'Zhubei's experience, Hsinchu County's realization.'
