Hsinchu to Host 'Zhuchan Cup' Street Dance Competition, Linking to DUBAI OPEN Qualifiers

Hsinchu City is set to host the "Zhuchan Cup" street dance competition from September 19 to 20, transforming the historic Hsinchu Prefecture Hall and Front Plaza into a vibrant stage for youth culture. This year's event marks a significant step by integrating historical landmarks with international-level street dance competitions.

Mayor Kao Hung-an stated that on September 19, the 'Hsinchu City Inter-school Street Dance League' will be held, with planned group dance competitions for elementary and high school divisions, as well as individual Freestyle Battles. She invited dancers from all levels of schools and street dance enthusiasts to compete.

The competition will feature the National Inter-school Street Dance League, with events including group dance battles for elementary and high school divisions, as well as individual Freestyle Battles. Mayor Kao Hung-an emphasized that these events provide a crucial platform for young dancers to showcase their teamwork, creativity, and skills, fostering exchange and development within the dance community.

A major highlight this year is the "Zhuchan Cup Breaking Competition and DUBAI OPEN Taiwan Qualifiers" on September 20. This event is officially authorized by the World Federation of Dance Sports (WFDS). It includes 5-on-5 team battles and 1-on-1 B-Boy and B-Girl competitions. Notably, the champion of the 1-on-1 breaking competition will receive full sponsorship, including round-trip airfare and accommodation, to compete in the world finals in Dubai, positioning Hsinchu as a key starting point for Taiwanese street dancers aiming for international recognition.

This year's biggest highlight is the 'Zhuchan Cup Breaking Competition and DUBAI OPEN Taiwan Qualifiers' on September 20, which for the first time introduces an officially authorized event by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF).

To build excitement, the city government plans a series of warm-up promotional activities. These will include collaborations with popular street dance KOLs and artists, and a press conference on September 12 at the Hsinchu Prefecture Hall Plaza, featuring K-POP performances. High-spec stage, lighting, and sound equipment will be provided to ensure an optimal competitive environment and allow attendees to experience the dynamic culture of street dance up close.

The 1-on-1 individual competition champion will receive full funding from the organizing committee to travel to Dubai for the world finals, including round-trip airfare and local accommodation, making Hsinchu an important starting point for Taiwanese street dance athletes to reach the international stage.
