Huachipato stunned by Puerto Montt in Copa Chile opener

Defending Copa Chile champions Huachipato began their title defense with an unexpected 0-2 loss to Deportes Puerto Montt at the Estadio CAP in Talcahuano. The match saw Huachipato, managed by Jaime García, control much of the game but fail to convert their dominance into goals, struggling with clarity and precision in front of the net.

Deportes Puerto Montt, known as "Los Delfines," adopted a counter-attacking strategy that proved effective in the second half. The breakthrough came in the 81st minute when Richard Paredes set up Reiner Castro, who successfully beat Huachipato's goalkeeper Christian Bravo. Paredes then sealed the victory in the fourth minute of added time with a powerful long-range shot that found the upper left corner of Huachipato's goal, finalizing the 2-0 scoreline.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities, Huachipato could not find a way past the solid defense and effective counter-attacking play of Puerto Montt. The defeat marks a disappointing start for the reigning champions in their quest to retain the Copa Chile trophy.
