Huacho Municipal Guard and Ex-Employees Detained for S/21,000 Entrepreneur Assault

A municipal security guard and two former municipal employees in Huacho, Peru, have been arrested by the National Police following an alleged S/21,000 assault on an entrepreneur. The victim reportedly had just withdrawn the money from a bank in the city center when the attack occurred.

Police initiated a pursuit after being alerted to the incident, which led to the recovery of the stolen money and the capture of Johnny Asunción Grandés, the security guard, and two ex-employees from the municipal Citizen Security unit. According to PNP General Manuel Farías, head of the Lima Norte police region, Asunción allegedly requested leave from work, claiming his brother was hospitalized, to participate in the robbery. He was reportedly still wearing part of his uniform when apprehended.

Another detainee, Miguel Ángel Brindandaína, has a criminal record, including a previous arrest in 2024 and 2025 for alleged firearm possession and other offenses. During the operation, police seized motorcycles, firearms, cell phones, drugs, and ski masks, which are believed to be used in criminal activities.

Preliminary investigations suggest these individuals are part of the criminal gang "Los Chukis Sanguinarios del Norte Chico." The Public Ministry is continuing its investigation to clarify their connections and determine their legal status.
