Huawei explores secure networks for Nigeria’s digital future

Huawei Nigeria recently hosted the Huawei Nigeria IP&OpticX Club 2026 event in Lagos, bringing together stakeholders to discuss the critical role of secure network infrastructure in advancing Nigeria's digital transformation.

Themed 'Secure Networks Powering Nigeria’s Digital Future,' the event delved into how secure, intelligent, and reliable networks can empower organizations to accelerate their digital transformation journeys, adopt artificial intelligence, and support increasingly interconnected business operations. Insights were shared by representatives from government, financial services, hospitality, and SMEs, alongside Huawei's technology experts and ecosystem partners.

Matamela Mashau, Chief Technology Officer at Huawei Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the evolution of networks from basic connectivity to becoming an intelligent foundation for Industrial All Intelligence. He emphasized Huawei's offerings, including next-generation pre-Wi-Fi 8 wireless experiences, full-scope security protection, and automated wireless fault resolution, all aimed at enhancing user experience and improving network availability, security, and efficiency.

Huawei highlighted next-generation pre-Wi-Fi 8 superfast wireless experience, full-scope security protection from endpoint onboarding, greater security and peace of mind upon campus entry, and wireless fault auto-resolution. Together, these capabilities help deliver a better user experience while improving network availability, security, and operational efficiency.

Oteniya Olorunlani, Head of Network Administration & Support Unit at the Lagos State Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, affirmed the state government's commitment to supporting public sector innovation and extending digital benefits. He noted that Lagos State's digital development is guided by the Lagos State Development Plan 2052, with Digital Government and Smart City initiatives as key directions.

Taiwo Abigael, Solution Design Engineer at MTN Network Enterprise Service, presented MTN's government and enterprise services, underscoring the growing collaboration between MTN Nigeria and Huawei. This partnership aims to provide Nigerian enterprises with bundled dedicated connectivity and network coverage services, facilitating the creation of secure, reliable, and intelligent digital infrastructure. Tulin, Director of the Enterprise Network Solution Department at Huawei Nigeria, concluded by stressing Huawei's commitment to working with Nigerian customers and partners to bring innovative technologies and solutions to the market.
