Hull City prepares new contract and reinforcements for manager Jakirović after promotion success

Sergej Jakirović has completed a remarkable debut season with Hull City, guiding the team to promotion to the Premier League against considerable odds. Many experts predicted a struggle for survival in the Championship for the Tigers, who were known to have one of the weaker squads and faced restrictions on registering new players due to financial fair-play violations.

Despite these challenges, Jakirović steered the team to sixth place in the regular season, culminating in a playoff victory that secured their place in the top flight. He himself admitted his initial objective was merely to keep the team in the Championship, making their promotion one of the season's biggest upsets. The next challenge will be to survive their first season back in the Premier League.

To aid in this goal, the club is set to provide significant support. The promotion guarantees the club an estimated 230 million euros in revenue from TV rights. Furthermore, Jakirović is reportedly in line for a substantial reward: new contract negotiations are underway, which will include a pay raise. While financial details remain undisclosed, Jakirović currently earns approximately two million euros annually. He has also been promised numerous player reinforcements to bolster the squad for the upcoming campaign.

During his first season, Jakirović managed the team in 52 matches, achieving 24 wins, 11 draws, and 17 losses. Preparations for the new season are scheduled to commence on July 13, with the Premier League season set to begin on August 22.
