Hulu developing new "Prison Break" series with original story

Hulu is set to revive the "Prison Break" franchise with a new series that aims to recapture the magic of the original show's acclaimed first season. While the initial season is widely considered one of television's best, the series struggled to maintain its quality in subsequent seasons, leading to disappointment among many viewers by its fifth season.

The upcoming "Prison Break" iteration will not be a direct remake or continuation of the original story featuring Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Instead, it will explore a new narrative within the same universe. Although the original characters may be referenced, they will not be central to the plot.

The new series will center on a female soldier who takes on the role of a prison guard. She will be employed at one of America's most dangerous correctional facilities, driven by a desire to prove her dedication to a loved one. Filming for the new series is scheduled to commence in June.
