Hundreds of masked protesters tried to block migrant arrivals in Britain, government says

Hundreds of people, many of them wearing masks, gathered overnight on Monday in an attempt to prevent a group of migrants from arriving at the British port of Portsmouth.

The British government condemned the protesters' behavior as "intimidating and rude." The demonstration was the second similar action in Britain in a matter of days.

A protest in Dover on Saturday also involved masked men expressing opposition to migrants arriving in the country. The two events have focused public attention on hostile demonstrations around migrant arrivals, while the government has denounced the conduct of those taking part.
