Hwang In-beom wins Portuguese Super Cup in FC Porto debut

South Korean midfielder Hwang In-beom has secured a trophy in his official debut for Portuguese powerhouse FC Porto, winning the 2026 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (Portuguese Super Cup). The victory came just 12 days after his transfer from Feyenoord.

FC Porto, the reigning Primeira Liga champions, faced off against Taça de Portugal winners SCU Torreense in the annual curtain-raiser. The match, held at Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, saw Porto emerge victorious with a narrow 1-0 win. Hwang In-beom, a key player for the South Korean national team, started the game on the bench but entered the field as a substitute in the 70th minute, making his official debut for the Dragons.

Despite a tight contest, the decisive goal came in the 38th minute when Pepe delivered a cross that was headed home by Viktor Gyökeres. Porto managed to hold onto their lead, ultimately clinching their 25th Portuguese Super Cup title. Hwang's brief appearance contributed to the team's success, marking a triumphant start to his tenure with the Portuguese club.

Hwang had previously made his home debut for Porto in a pre-season friendly against Aston Villa on July 27. His participation in the Super Cup signifies his integration into the squad and his immediate impact on the team's performance. The midfielder recorded one shot on target and provided one key pass during his time on the field.
