Hwang Jeong-soo shoots national record 36 points in skeet

Hwang Jeong-soo has etched his name in the record books, setting a new South Korean benchmark in men's skeet shooting. Competing at the 2026 Changwon Mayor's Cup held at the Changwon International Shooting Range in Gyeongnam Province on the 23rd, Hwang achieved a perfect score of 36 points in the final round.

This remarkable performance shattered the previous national record of 34 points, which was established by Jang Ja-yong during the third selection trial for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games back in April. Hwang's flawless display now stands as the highest score ever recorded in the discipline within South Korea.

Notably, Hwang's score of 36 points also matches the current world record. American shooter Vincent Hancock set this global benchmark at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup held in Italy last month. However, Hwang's record, while equaling the world's best, will not receive official ISSF recognition as it was achieved in a domestic competition.
