Hyundai Children's Book Museum Hosts Photography Exhibition Featuring 14 Artists

The Hyundai Children's Book Museum (MOKA) at Hyundai Department Store's Pangyo branch is showcasing "Photo World," an exhibition designed to foster children's imagination through photography. Running until November 1, the exhibition presents a collection of 110 photographs and art prints from 14 artists, both Korean and international.

The exhibition delves into how photography transcends mere documentation to become a tool for storytelling and expanding imagination. It is divided into two sections: "Speaking Photos" and "Dreaming Photos." The "Speaking Photos" section explores the meaning conveyed by a single image and how photos, text, and different images can combine to create new narratives. "Dreaming Photos" examines the diverse ways photography intersects reality and imagination, featuring "Found Moments" and "Staged Realities" to show how photography offers new perspectives on the world.

Beyond the visual displays, MOKA offers hands-on activities for children. These include "Two Photos, One Poem," where children connect images with text to create new meanings, and "MOKA Photo Play," a collage activity. Additionally, "Film Time Capsule" allows children to view films using a slide projector, and "Photo Studio" lets them arrange backgrounds and props for their own photo shoots.

A representative from the museum expressed hope that the exhibition will broaden children's horizons and stimulate their imagination. They also stated that MOKA, Korea's first "book"-themed children's museum, plans to continue offering exhibitions that encourage creativity and exploration of diverse art forms. Established by Hyundai Department Store to contribute to the community and promote arts education, MOKA hosts regular exhibitions, related programs, artist workshops, and educational courses.
