Hyundai Motor Group appoints former diplomat Michael Kleine to lead Washington office

Hyundai Motor Group has appointed Michael Kleine, a former U.S. State Department diplomat, to lead its Washington D.C. office, which oversees government affairs in the United States. The appointment signals a strategic move to bolster the group's presence and engagement in the U.S. capital.

Kleine brings a wealth of diplomatic experience to the role. He previously served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Indonesia. His tenure also included a significant role as the Economic Minister-Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in South Korea, where he played a part in supporting the negotiation and ratification of the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
