Hyundai Unveils 8th Gen Avante: Bigger Size, Generative AI Inside

Hyundai has unveiled the 8th generation Avante, a significant overhaul that blurs the lines between vehicle classes. The updated model, showcased at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show, has grown in size and adopted flagship-level digital technology, signaling Hyundai's broader shift towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

The new Avante now measures 4,765mm in length, an increase of 55mm, with its width and wheelbase also expanded by 30mm. Notably, its width matches that of the Sonata, a higher-tier model, pushing the boundaries of the subcompact sedan segment. The exterior design features a sporty aesthetic, highlighted by the H-edge lighting daytime running lights at the front and a spoiler-like trunk lid at the rear.

Inside, the Avante fully embraces its SDV identity. It features the next-generation infotainment system, 'Pleon Connect,' and a generative AI agent named 'Gleoo AI,' which acts as a personal assistant. The cabin is dominated by a large 14.6-inch display and a smaller cluster display. The vehicle also introduces segment-first features like memory reverse assist and remote smart parking assist, along with the brand's first emergency brake function for the electronic shift lever's parking gear.

Hydai Motor President Jose Munoz stated that the 'The All New Avante' sets a new standard for its class, offering a balanced package of design, interior space, safety, and digital experience. The company will announce trim details, specifications, fuel economy, and pricing in the third quarter. At the Busan Mobility Show, Hyundai also presented its future electric vehicle lineup, including the Ioniq 5, 6, and 9, and the Kona Electric, within a 2,040 square meter booth designed to showcase its connected experience and app ecosystem.
