‘I Live Alone’ bows over controversy surrounding Jeon Hyun-moo’s ‘impromptu trip’

MBC’s “I Live Alone” production team apologized over allegations that Jeon Hyun-moo’s Kazakhstan “impromptu trip” had been fabricated. The team said Jeon did decide the destination on the day, but acknowledged that preparations for an overseas shoot had already been made.

In a statement issued on the fourth, the producers apologized for taking too long to explain the filming process. They said “impromptu trip” meant that Jeon had not chosen a destination or bought a ticket in advance. The production team, however, had reviewed flights and filming conditions in nearby countries in case an overseas trip became possible.

Because it believed Kazakhstan was a likely choice, the team had purchased staff tickets in advance and requested local filming cooperation. Jeon himself checked which flights could depart that day at the airport and bought his ticket to Kazakhstan, the producers said. They admitted that emphasizing the term “impromptu trip” may have led viewers to believe that every part of the journey had taken place without prior preparation.
