Senator Orji Kalu has stressed the critical need for enhanced investment and robust security measures to foster sustainable economic growth in Nigeria. Speaking during a visit to Sokoto State, where he commissioned road projects, Kalu highlighted that persistent insecurity is a major impediment to Nigeria's economic potential and the improvement of citizens' living conditions.

Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, advocated for stringent actions to address the nation's security challenges, asserting that economic expansion is essential for prosperity. He acknowledged President Bola Tinubu's efforts in expanding the Nigerian economy, noting that while the macroeconomy shows positive signs, the microeconomy is lagging. "Things might look difficult today. Yes, as you can see, I am an industrialist. The macroeconomy is doing well, but the microeconomy is not doing well. I told the President this," Kalu stated.

He explained that the positive macroeconomic performance has not yet translated into tangible benefits for the average Nigerian, a situation he partly attributes to the prevailing security issues. Kalu expressed optimism that with adequate investment in security, the economic gains would be more widely distributed. Reaffirming his commitment to national unity, he declared, "Nigeria is one, and I will continue to pray and plead for the unity of this country until I die."
