Idaho authorities search for motive in mass shooting that killed 3, hurt 7

Authorities in Twin Falls, Idaho, are working to determine the motive behind a mass shooting that claimed three lives and injured seven others at a new In-N-Out Burger restaurant. The gunman, 24-year-old Chad Williams, died by suicide following the attack on Saturday afternoon.

Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that Williams acted alone, and his family is cooperating with the investigation. While initial searches of court records in Idaho and Arizona, where Williams previously lived, did not reveal any criminal cases, details about his life remain largely unknown. A former dorm mate described Williams as an "introvert" and "a pretty chill guy."

Among the seven wounded, two were treated and released, three remain in stable condition, and two are in critical condition. The attack occurred in a busy shopping plaza, and an off-duty state trooper and a civilian reportedly fired on the gunman, diverting him from the restaurant. Some victims have been identified by friends and relatives, though police are still working to notify next of kin. A vigil is planned for Tuesday evening.

An employee of the restaurant was among those killed, according to a statement from the fast-food chain's owner.
