It's great that, according to official channels, guidelines on draft dodging are still against official IDF policy. But it also raises a more serious question: If the messaging did not reflect policy and violated existing instructions, how was it approved for publication on an official IDF account? The concern is not simply that someone made a poor communications decision. It is that messaging capable of being understood as advice for draft evaders slipped through the army’s own controls and appeared under the IDF’s name. By the time it was removed, it had already been published, circulated, and associated with the military. Deleting the post may have stopped further distribution, but it could not undo the message already sent. Any IDF platform speaks for the whole institution. Anyone managing an official IDF platform speaks with the authority of the institution. These are not private accounts where careless wording can be dismissed as an individual mistake. Israelis reasonably expect information distributed through official military channels to reflect policy and to have passed a meaningful level of review.
