IGP Disu Deploys New Police Commissioners to Eight Nigerian States

Nigeria's Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has authorized the deployment of new police commissioners to eight state commands and various strategic formations across the country. This move, announced Thursday evening, aims to bolster operational effectiveness and advance ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

The deployments were made following the approval of the IGP's recommendations by the Police Service Commission (PSC). According to police spokesperson Ani Iniedu, a chief superintendent of police (CSP), the appointments are designed to strengthen leadership at both state command and specialized police formation levels. The goal is to consolidate efforts in repositioning the force to better serve the public.

The appointments are intended to enhance leadership across state commands and specialised police formations while consolidating efforts to reposition the Force.

Among the newly appointed commissioners for state commands are Afolabi Olutokunbo for Abia, Ayodeji Faniyan for Plateau, Saka Ajao for Bayelsa, Ajo Ordue for Cross River, Nanna Ama for Anambra, Patrick Daaor for Edo, Tani Murtala for Jigawa, and Samuel Erale for Delta. Additionally, senior officers have been redeployed to key operational and administrative departments at the Force Headquarters, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), the Force Intelligence Department (FID), and other specialized units.
