Ilorin Emirate Political Leaders Renew Push for Saliu Mustapha’s Governorship Bid

The Ilorin Emirate Political Advisory Council (IEPAC) has officially reconfirmed its backing for Senator Saliu Mustapha as its preferred candidate for the Kwara State governorship in the 2027 elections. The council also reiterated its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's pursuit of a second term in office.

Announced during a press conference in Ilorin, the council's National Coordinator, Dr. Yakub Yahaya Oloriegbe, and National Secretary, Lt. Col. Abubakar Edun (Rtd), presented Mustapha's gubernatorial aspiration as a collective project for the Ilorin Emirate. They pledged the council's dedication to ensuring its realization and advised the senator, who represents Kwara Central Senatorial District, to explore all political avenues for his ambition.

We unanimously endorse the aspiration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and believe he deserves another four years to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his administration.

This latest declaration follows IEPAC's earlier endorsements of both President Tinubu and Senator Mustapha for the upcoming presidential and governorship elections, respectively. The council, considered a significant socio-political entity in Kwara Central, stated that its decisions stem from thorough consultations and careful evaluations of potential candidates.

IEPAC affirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting leaders and political strategies that protect and promote the interests of the Kwara Central district within the state's political framework. Regarding the presidential election, the council cited President Tinubu's administration's performance and the perceived benefits accruing to Kwara Central under his leadership as key reasons for their endorsement. They expressed confidence that Senator Mustapha possesses the necessary qualities, including broad acceptability, proven leadership, political maturity, and extensive experience, to unite the people, win elections, and govern Kwara State effectively and inclusively.
