Imamoğlu Calls on Youth to Prepare for Democracy Fight

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, currently detained, has issued a call to action for Turkish youth, urging them to actively participate in safeguarding democracy, law, and election security. "Sevgili gençler, ben Türkiye Cumhuriyeti tarihinin en büyük mücadelesini verdiğimiz bugünlerde sizin varlığınızı, kararlılığınızı ve bilinçli bir şekilde mücadeleye katılımınızı çok önemsiyorum," İmamoğlu stated, directly addressing young people. He emphasized that elections and ballot boxes are the nation's most significant power and safeguard against perceived threats to the democratic system.

The mayor proposed establishing a broad, non-partisan volunteer network across the country, inspired by Istanbul's volunteer initiatives. "Partiler üstü bir tavırla İstanbul Gönüllüleri gibi Türkiye Gönüllüleri birlikteliği ile sandık gününe sahip çıkacak bir örgütlenmeyi başarmamız şarttır," he said, outlining a goal to recruit 1 million "Turkey Volunteers." This network would involve poll workers at every school, legal support on election day, IT teams to secure data, and coordinated action among political parties and NGOs.

İmamoğlu concluded by placing responsibility on the youth, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute to Turkey's future. "Sevgili gençler, asıl mesele sizlerin sorumluluğudur.
