İmamoğlu on the OVP: “If Erdoğan is there, there is distrust”

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the detained presidential candidate and elected mayor of Istanbul, has dismissed the government's economic targets and Medium-Term Program as meaningless under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Under Erdoğan's rule, neither your inflation and growth targets nor the Medium-Term Program have any meaning left.

In a message posted by the Presidential Candidacy Office, İmamoğlu accused the government of repeatedly making promises to the public and then backing away from them. He said the economic program could not inspire confidence while democracy, freedom and justice had been eroded.

İmamoğlu also argued that business owners and workers no longer feel protected. “The responsibility for this distorted order, in which neither businesspeople nor workers feel secure, is yours,” he said.

He reduced his criticism to a chain linking Erdoğan to the country's economic problems: “If Erdoğan is there, there is distrust. If there is distrust, there is no stability.
