İmamoğlu's first post after CHP resignation

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has broken his silence following his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP) with a social media post expressing support for the newly established "Yeni Parti" (New Party).

Following the announcement of the Yeni Parti's membership system, its Istanbul Provincial Chairman, Özgür Çelik, invited citizens to join, stating, "The New Party is the work of our nation. Our membership system is open. Our Presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu also became Istanbul's first member." He urged others to join the "great journey" under the leadership of General Chairman Özgür Özel.

In response, İmamoğlu's Presidential Candidate Office shared Çelik's post on social media, quoting it and adding the message, "Yolumuz Açık Olsun" (May our path be clear). This marks İmamoğlu's first public statement since announcing his departure from the CHP on Thursday.

İmamoğlu's move to the Yeni Parti and his candidacy for president represent a significant shift in Turkey's political landscape. His resignation from the CHP, a major opposition party, and his alignment with a new political entity signal a strategic realignment ahead of the upcoming presidential elections.
