India envoy sees strong democracies, world powers with Bangladesh

India's incoming High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, has articulated a vision of close partnership between the two South Asian nations, aiming to elevate them as "strong democracies and world powers."

Trivedi, who is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh imminently, shared his aspirations with the media following a visit to Netaji Bhavan in Kolkata. He emphasized the significant demographic strength of both countries, stating, "With 140 crore of India and another 20 crore of our brothers and sisters from Bangladesh, we will absolutely be achieving whatever we want to achieve in the world."

His arrival will mark a change in diplomatic representation, as he replaces Pranay Kumar Verma, who has been appointed ambassador to Belgium and the European Union. Trivedi plans to enter Bangladesh via the Benapole-Petrapole land port.
