India, Kuwait Discuss Gulf Conflict and Boost Strategic Partnership

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Kuwait City, focusing on the impact of the ongoing Gulf conflict and reviewing bilateral cooperation across key sectors.

During their discussions, both ministers expressed confidence that the India-Kuwait Strategic Partnership would continue to strengthen. They jointly assessed their cooperation in vital areas including energy, trade, investments, defense, technology, food security, and health. Jaishankar conveyed his appreciation for Kuwait's efforts in ensuring the well-being of the Indian community residing in the country.

Jaishankar's visit to Kuwait is part of a multi-nation tour that also includes Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, the United States, and Belgium. Earlier in the day, he had a meeting with Kuwait's Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. During this meeting, Jaishankar conveyed warm greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed deep appreciation for the Crown Prince's commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation.

We jointly assessed our cooperation focusing on energy, trade, investments, defence, technology, food security and health domains. Confident that our Strategic Partnership will continue to strengthen in times to come.

The Indian minister also shared perspectives on recent developments in the Gulf region with the Crown Prince. Upon his arrival in Kuwait, Jaishankar was received by Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman Mashaan Al-Mashaan. Prior to his visit to Kuwait, Jaishankar was in Bahrain, where he reaffirmed India's commitment to enhancing its longstanding bilateral partnership with the kingdom.
