India opens probe after Air India jet suffers sudden altitude loss, several hurt

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a thorough investigation into an Air India flight that experienced a sudden altitude variation during its journey. The flight, AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi, landed safely in the capital, but the unexpected maneuver prompted medical evaluations for several passengers and crew members.

The Airbus A320 aircraft, carrying 137 passengers including three infants and eight crew members, encountered the momentary altitude fluctuation. While the aircraft stabilized and landed without further incident, the DGCA has initiated a detailed probe into the occurrence. The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed it is closely monitoring the situation.

As a precautionary measure, medical teams were on hand to attend to all passengers upon arrival. The investigation aims to determine the cause of the altitude variation and ensure the safety of future flights.
