India signs $1.8-million lobbying deal with Trump-linked firm SHW Partners LLC

India has entered into a significant 12-month lobbying agreement valued at $1.8 million with SHW Partners LLC, a firm associated with former U.S. President Donald Trump. The contract aims to bolster India's engagement with the Trump administration, according to disclosures reviewed by Hindustan Times.

SHW Partners, headed by Jason Miller, a former spokesperson for Trump and a long-time political strategist, was initially retained by the Indian Embassy in April 2025. The firm's mandate includes providing strategic counsel, tactical planning, and government relations assistance on policy matters before various U.S. governmental bodies, academic institutions, think tanks, and other stakeholders. The new contract commenced on April 24, 2026, and will extend until April 23, 2027.

Jason Miller, who played a key role in Trump's 2016 and 2024 presidential campaigns, has remained a prominent figure within Trump's political circle. SHW Partners' disclosures indicate that the firm has actively engaged influential officials within the Trump administration on India's behalf. This engagement occurred following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025 and during Operation Sindoor in May 2026.

According to the filings, SHW Partners facilitated outreach to key figures such as White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Under Secretary of War Elbridge Colby, and former National Security Council official Ricky Gill. Following the commencement of Operation Sindoor on May 7, the firm arranged an interview for Ambassador Vinay Kwatra with Fox News anchor Brett Baier. Furthermore, SHW Partners reached out to various U.S. departments in June to schedule meetings between India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and senior U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. The firm also facilitated discussions with White House officials, the U.S. Trade Representative, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick during July and August to address ongoing U.S.-India trade negotiations.
