India Summons US Chargé d'Affaires Over Attacks on Commercial Vessels in Gulf of Oman

India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Jason Meeks on Friday to lodge a strong protest against what it described as continuing attacks by U.S. naval forces on commercial vessels carrying Indian mariners in the Gulf of Oman.

According to the ministry, these incidents have led to the tragic and avoidable deaths of three Indian nationals. During the meeting, Indian officials conveyed their deep concern regarding the use of lethal force against civilian shipping. They warned that such actions jeopardize the safety and security of international maritime trade and risk further destabilizing a sensitive region.

India called upon U.S. forces operating in the region to implement all necessary precautions to prevent civilian casualties and ensure the safety of merchant vessels and their crews. This diplomatic action occurs amidst increased military activity and security concerns in regional waters, including the vital shipping lanes of the Gulf of Oman.
