Indian-origin tech leader killed by husband in Georgia over domestic dispute, wounded son runs to neighbors for help

A domestic dispute tragically ended the life of Sheetal Wrzesien, an Indian-origin tech leader, in Georgia. Her husband, Kirk B Wrzesien, is accused of shooting and killing her at their home earlier this week. The incident unfolded when the couple's 23-year-old son, Jason, also shot during the altercation, fled the house seeking help. He first approached one neighbor's home without success before running to a second neighbor's house, where residents provided assistance and stemmed his bleeding until first responders arrived. Police have charged 56-year-old Kirk Wrzesien with felony murder and weapons offenses. Investigators confirmed the incident was domestic violence and stated there was no ongoing threat to the public. Kirk Wrzesien is currently held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Sheetal Wrzesien was a respected figure in the tech industry, serving as an engineering leader at Google. With over two decades of experience, she had a distinguished career in various technology roles. Her background included living in England, India, and Ghana before moving to the United States to study Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She was a named inventor on two software patents and held significant positions within the Georgia Tech community, including on the Advisory Board of the College of Computing and the Board of Trustees for the Alumni Association.
