Indonesia Allocates Rp189 Trillion to Defense Ministry and Military in 2027 Budget

Indonesia plans to allocate Rp189 trillion to its Defense Ministry and armed forces in 2027, adding about Rp50 trillion to the indicative ceiling discussed earlier.

The point is that the 2027 state budget for the Defense Ministry is Rp189 trillion. So there is an additional Rp50 trillion from the indicative ceiling of Rp139 trillion.

Utut Adianto, chair of the House of Representatives’ Commission I, gave the figure after a working meeting with Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and military leaders at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday, Aug. 31. He said the indicative allocation had stood at Rp139 trillion.

Sjafrie said the funding had been distributed across the Defense Ministry, the TNI headquarters and the headquarters of the army, navy and air force. He said the ministry and military faced a wide range of changing duties and would use the allocation as effectively as possible.

The allocation provided for the defense budget has already been divided among the organizational units, from the Defense Ministry and TNI headquarters to the army, navy and air force headquarters.

The minister also said he believed the state would meet defense-system funding needs. He linked those needs to changing national conditions, including disasters affecting the country. The 2027 allocation compares with about Rp187 trillion for 2026.

We are also ready to carry out these duties, and of course we believe the state will meet the budgetary needs for carrying out the duties of the national defense system.
