Indonesia's Attorney General's Office takes over alleged Inhutani land-grabbing case in Lampung

Indonesia's Attorney General's Office has taken over an alleged corruption investigation into PT Pemuka Sakti Manis Indah's use of forest land belonging to PT Inhutani V in Lampung.

We have taken over the investigation conducted by the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office concerning the alleged criminal corruption case involving the use and exploitation of plantation forest areas by PT PSMI.

Saiful Bahri Siregar, director of investigations at the Attorney General's Office's special crimes division, said the case had been transferred from the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office. He described the investigation as involving the alleged unlawful use and exploitation of plantation forest areas.

The company allegedly planted sugarcane on land in the Inhutani V area. Saiful said the use of the land violated the law and caused losses to state finances, although the Attorney General's Office has not disclosed the amount.

PT PSMI's plantation cultivation in the PT Inhutani V area in Lampung was unlawful and resulted in losses to state finances.

Investigators have not named any suspects. They have questioned 47 witnesses and seized documents as they continue examining the alleged offense and gathering evidence.

The investigative team is still examining witnesses, carrying out seizures and collecting other evidence to establish the criminal events that occurred.
