Indonesia's BRIN Produces Affordable Rubber Shoes, President Prabowo Places Order

The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) of Indonesia has successfully developed and produced affordable rubber shoes, with prices ranging from approximately 75,000 to over 100,000 Indonesian Rupiah (under $80). The agency showcased these locally made products during a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

BRIN Head Arif Satria presented the shoes to President Prabowo, highlighting their local production and affordability. Impressed by the initiative, President Prabowo himself placed an order for the shoes, encouraging BRIN to continue developing products that address national needs. "This is a BRIN shoe, a local product, and the president has also ordered it. BRIN, please make something that can solve the problem of shoes," Arif Satria stated.

The agency is actively seeking industrial partners to expand the production of these shoes. Looking ahead, BRIN intends to direct its efforts towards fulfilling the footwear needs of students in 'Sekolah Rakyat' (People's Schools), aiming to provide accessible and quality shoes for educational purposes.

In a broader context, approximately 150 BRIN researchers met with President Prabowo to present a comprehensive overview of BRIN's research findings across 12 key clusters. These presentations covered critical areas such as food security, energy solutions, support for coastal communities, space exploration, aviation, nuclear research, rare earth metals, housing, transportation, and health. The goal is to leverage these research outcomes to address national challenges and foster innovation.
