Indonesia's Telkom Group Streamlining Won't Cause Layoffs, Deputy Speaker Assures

Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has confirmed that the ongoing streamlining process at Telkom Group will not lead to any job terminations. This assurance came after a meeting between the DPR's Commission VI and representatives from the Telkom Indonesia Employees Union (Sekar Telkom).

The meeting addressed concerns about the company's restructuring, focusing on solutions that safeguard employees' rights. Key agreements reached include the guarantee that no employees will be laid off during the streamlining. All staff will maintain their positions within Telkom Group, receiving the same incentives and benefits, regardless of their assigned unit. Some employees may be reassigned to a new business unit, Telkom Enterprise, with assurances that their employment status will remain secure even if the unit does not meet expectations.

Furthermore, the rights of employees in subsidiaries that are no longer operational, such as PT PINS Indonesia, will be protected. Telkom and Danantara will ensure the continuation of their salaries. This commitment aims to provide certainty for employees during the company's transformation into a stronger, more competitive digital strategic holding.

Chairperson of Commission VI DPR RI, Anggia Ermarini, pledged that the commission would closely monitor the gradual implementation of these agreements to ensure a smooth process that benefits both workers and Telkom Group's future transformation. Nasri, the Chairman of Sekar Telkom, expressed gratitude for the assurances, highlighting that securing the status of state-owned enterprise (BUMN) employees was their primary aspiration. He noted that further implementation details would be discussed progressively with BUMN and Danantara.
