Indonesian Deputy Police Chief Distributes Aid to Garlic Farmers

Indonesia's Deputy Police Chief, Komjen Dedi Prasetyo, personally delivered 1,000 social aid packages to farmers and residents in Cianjur, West Java. The assistance specifically targets farmers involved in a synchronized garlic planting program, a national initiative to achieve self-sufficiency in garlic production.

Prasetyo expressed hope that the aid would alleviate farmers' burdens, allowing them to focus on cultivating garlic and ensuring a bountiful harvest. He shared his personal satisfaction in providing the support, stating that the visible happiness of the farmers demonstrated the police's continued presence and commitment to the community. Cianjur is among 14 regions in West Java selected for this synchronized planting effort.

The program utilizes land from PTPN, the Agriculture Department, and farmer groups, with an initial 44.58 hectares ready for planting. This area is expected to expand, with the initial planting projected to yield over 450 tons of garlic within four months. The yield is anticipated to increase as more land becomes available, working towards the national goal of garlic self-sufficiency.

Farmers like Ayi and Suhendar expressed their gratitude, noting that the aid would help meet daily needs while awaiting harvest. They emphasized that this support allows them to concentrate on farming, contributing to the national objective of garlic self-sufficiency.
