Indonesian envoy: Blood drive shows deep ties with Kuwait

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the Indonesian Nurses Society, hosted a blood donation drive last Wednesday, highlighting humanitarian and community engagement. Members of the Indonesian community and nurses actively participated in the campaign.

The campaign, which was held at the Late Sheikha Salwa Al-Sabah Stem Cell and Umbilical Cord Center, conveyed a message of solidarity and affection from Indonesia and its community to Kuwait and its people.

Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait Lena Maryana emphasized that the drive, held at the Late Sheikha Salwa Al-Sabah Stem Cell and Umbilical Cord Center, sent a message of solidarity and affection from Indonesia and its diaspora to Kuwait and its people. She described the initiative as a manifestation of the deep-rooted relations between the two nations and the Indonesian community's commitment to being an active part of Kuwaiti society.

This annual blood donation drive coincides with Indonesia's 81st Independence Day celebrations. Ambassador Maryana noted that this marks her fifth blood donation campaign since her arrival in Kuwait five years ago, underscoring the importance of blood donation as a humanitarian act that aids those in critical need.

She said the campaign is a manifestation of the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and the commitment of the Indonesian community to be an active part of the Kuwaiti society.

Approximately 100 members of the Indonesian community took part in the campaign. Maryana highlighted that this participation is significant not only for its numbers but also for the humanitarian and solidarity message it conveys. She further explained that blood donation serves as a form of soft diplomacy for Indonesia, aiming to express the solidarity of the Indonesian government and people with Kuwait and its citizens. Indonesia remains keen on supporting Kuwait through initiatives that benefit the community.

Additionally, Ambassador Maryana announced the recent arrival of approximately 250 Indonesian nurses to Kuwait's healthcare sector, bringing the total number of Indonesian nurses to around 500. The overall Indonesian workforce in Kuwait is estimated at 6,000, with expectations of further personnel arrivals. She praised the contributions of Indonesian nurses, both professionally and through their participation in community events like the blood drive.
