Indonesian House committee appoints leader for Febrie Adriansyah case probe

Habiburokhman, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Commission III, has been appointed to lead a special committee tasked with overseeing the investigation into former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The committee's formation follows recent developments in the case, including allegations of corruption and money laundering.

I received a message from Pak Hinca Panjaitan, he was on a plane from India, saying, 'I agree, Chairman.' This means all factions in Commission III approve the formation of this Panja and approve my appointment as Chairman of the Panja.

The decision to establish the working group, or Panja, was made during a special session of Commission III on Saturday, with unanimous agreement from all factions. Habiburokhman stated that the committee will directly supervise the handling of the case, which is now under the authority of the Attorney General's Office, while collaborating with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the National Police's Directorate of Corruption Crimes (Kortas Tipidkor).

The resignation of the Junior Attorney General should not weaken or halt the ongoing law enforcement process.

Commission III stressed that Adriansyah's resignation should not impede the ongoing legal proceedings. The commission also urged the National Police, the Attorney General's Office, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces to maintain solidarity during the investigation. They emphasized that the case involves alleged actions by individuals, not institutions, and should not lead to conflicts between law enforcement agencies.

Furthermore, Commission III has requested the Attorney General's Office to form an independent investigative team, free from any affiliation with Adriansyah, to ensure objectivity. Habiburokhman indicated that the committee plans to monitor various stages of the investigation, including searches and evidence examination, promising transparency through media updates.
