Indonesian Minister Oversees Post-Earthquake Recovery in East Nusa Tenggara

Indonesia's Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, conducted a visit to Manggarai Timur in East Nusa Tenggara to personally assess and expedite post-earthquake recovery operations. The trip followed a coordination meeting aimed at identifying issues and updating the progress of rehabilitation efforts by various ministries, agencies, and the local government.

During his visit, the Minister observed the conditions on the ground and the needs of the affected population. His primary objective was to ensure that recovery measures are implemented swiftly and cohesively. This initiative is part of a broader central government strategy to strengthen coordination with regional administrations in managing the earthquake's aftermath in NTT.

According to Benni Irwan, Head of the Home Affairs Ministry's Information Center, the Minister's presence in Manggarai Timur was to verify the effectiveness of the post-earthquake response and its acceleration. "The Minister is conducting this direct review in Manggarai Timur to ensure the post-earthquake handling is proceeding and can be accelerated according to the community's needs," Benni stated.

The government is prioritizing rapid disaster response through centralized and regional coordination. Support includes addressing community necessities, restoring damaged infrastructure, and providing the necessary budget and resources to speed up the recovery process. The Minister's visit coincided with Indonesia's 81st Independence Day celebrations, where he was scheduled to serve as the inspector of the ceremony in Manggarai Timur.
