Indonesian Parliament Guarantees Rise in Regional Transfer Funds for 2027

Indonesia's House of Representatives Budget Committee (Banggar DPR) has assured that regional transfer funds (TKD) allocated through the state budget will see an increase in 2027. While the precise figure remains undisclosed, Committee Chairman Said Abdullah indicated that President Prabowo Subianto will officially announce the details during the annual general session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) on August 16.

Abdullah stated that the TKD for 2027 is projected to be higher than the Rp649 trillion allocated for 2026. These funds are a crucial component of the national budget, distributed to regional governments to support their administrative functions and the provision of public services. The TKD encompasses several categories, including revenue sharing funds, general allocation funds, special allocation funds, special autonomy funds, special region funds, and village funds, as outlined by the Law on Central and Regional Financial Relations.

Discussions within the Banggar DPR suggest that the TKD will represent between 2.55% and 2.79% of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Based on the current GDP of Rp28,831 trillion, the government intends to enhance these transfers. Abdullah noted that the government aims to increase TKD, ensuring alignment with central government programs and a unified vision under the President.
