INEC begins 2026 recruitment, how to apply

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has initiated its recruitment process for 2026, opening its online portal for applications. The commission is seeking qualified Nigerians to fill entry-level positions across various Grade Levels, including 07, 08, 09, 10, and 12. This recruitment drive aims to bolster INEC's institutional capacity in key areas such as electoral administration, voter registration, data management, and election logistics, ensuring the effective execution of its constitutional duties.

The application window opened on Monday, July 20, and will conclude on Monday, July 27. INEC has emphasized that the application process is entirely free of charge. The commission sternly warned prospective applicants against submitting false information or forged documents, stating that such offenses would lead to disqualification and potential prosecution.

Vacancies are categorized into three cadres. The Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10, and 12) includes positions like Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer, and Quantity Surveyor. Applicants for these roles must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and often a master's degree, in a relevant field from a recognized institution. Professional certifications such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN, or CPN are required, along with at least two years of post-qualification experience, an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and ICT skills.

The Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) position falls under Grade Level 08. Candidates need a bachelor's degree, Higher National Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences. Proficiency in data management and record-keeping, along with Microsoft Office and other ICT tools, is essential, in addition to the NYSC certificate.

For the Executive Officer (Registration Officer) role at Grade Level 07, applicants require a National Certificate in Education or equivalent. Good computer operation skills, data handling capabilities, and strong communication and organizational abilities are necessary. General requirements for all applicants include a valid certificate of origin, a medical fitness certificate from a government doctor, and an age limit of 35 years at the time of application.
