INEC issues certificates of return to new Anambra LG chairmen

Anambra’s newly elected local government chairmen have received certificates of return after the state’s local government election on Saturday.

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission issued the certificates on Tuesday. Its chairman, Genevieve Osakwe, said the commission was responsible for formally recognizing the elected chairmen and councillors as the legitimate leaders of their local government areas.

By the requirements of the electoral processes, the commission is still saddled with the responsibility of issuing certificates of return to the elected chairmen and councillors as the legitimate leaders of their local government areas.

According to results announced by the commission, the All Progressives Grand Alliance won all 21 chairmanship seats and 364 councillorship positions. Osakwe urged the new officials to carry out their responsibilities effectively and prioritize development and good governance in their communities.

Ikechukwu Okakpu, the newly elected chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, thanked constituents for entrusting the officials with leadership roles. Election observers, security agencies and media representatives attended the presentation ceremony.
