Influencer and fitness coach Einar Méndez dies suddenly at 48

Einar Méndez, a bodybuilder, influencer and fitness coach, died suddenly in a gym at age 48, according to Mexican broadcaster Martha Debayle.

Debayle, who was one of Méndez’s trainees, announced his death in an Instagram post. “We are all still in shock. He left suddenly, in the gym, doing what he loved most: training,” she wrote.

Méndez had remained active on social media until his death, surprising followers and people close to him. Born in 1978, he built a career in bodybuilding before combining the sport with coaching and online content. His Instagram community grew to more than 40,000 followers, where he posted about nutrition, exercise, mental health and routines to strengthen the body.

His message focused on more than appearance. Méndez promoted exercise as a way to prevent chronic illnesses and reach older age with a better quality of life. He also developed fitness programs and challenges, including Summer Body and New Year, New Me, which encouraged healthier eating and exercise at the start of the year.

Méndez became an Ibero-American bodybuilding champion and worked with several public figures, including Debayle. Their collaboration extended to television in 2019, when she brought him onto Extreme Makeover, a reality program focused on physical transformation through exercise, nutrition and expert guidance. Hours before his death, he had used social media to celebrate a special date with Yan Méndez.
