Influencer 'El Taurus' to Face Trial for Homicide While Free; Prosecution Seeks Pre-Trial Detention

A Mexican influencer, known online as 'El Taurus,' will face trial for attempted homicide while remaining free, a decision that has drawn an appeal from state prosecutors. The judge overseeing the case modified the precautionary measure, overriding the prosecution's request for pre-trial detention.

State Prosecutor General Claudia Zulema Sánchez Kondo stated that her office sought detention for Juan Carlos 'N' due to the nature of the crime, the circumstances under which it occurred, and his alleged lifestyle. However, the defense successfully argued for a modification of the measure, leading the judge to allow him to await trial at liberty.

The influencer faces accusations of shooting a man named José 'N' during an argument at his business, 'Carnitas Fit Taurus,' on April 9. Investigators allege that 'El Taurus' threatened the victim with a knife. The defense, however, presented a different narrative in court, claiming that José 'N' attempted to rob the business with a firearm, forcing the influencer to defend himself and his wife.
