Injured Russian Tourist's Evacuation from Pamirs Delayed Two Days

A Russian tourist, Igor Bayer, who sustained leg injuries while descending the Turamis-1 Pass in Tajikistan's Pamir Mountains, is now expected to be evacuated to the capital, Dushanbe, on July 26. Jamshed Kamolzoda, head of the Crisis Management Center at Tajikistan’s Committee for Emergency Situations, reported that Bayer's condition is stable, and he can move independently.

The evacuation was initially scheduled for July 24 from the Moskvina plateau. Rescuers, a helicopter, and an ambulance were prepared by the Committee for Emergency Situations to transport Bayer. However, the emergency flight was canceled after the tourist's condition improved, and his tour group leader, Sergei Nasedkin, decided to wait for a scheduled flight operated by the private airline Shohin Airlines.

The Committee for Emergency Situations received notification of the incident on July 18. A group of five Russian tourists was descending the pass when the 22-year-old Bayer fell and injured his legs. The group is currently situated on the Moskvina plateau at an altitude of approximately 4,200–4,300 meters. Officials confirmed that the situation is under constant observation, and evacuation arrangements have been coordinated with the group leader.
